The language of the novel is highly sought after and archaic, like the plot, in many circumstances very mysterious and veiled. Even if this manuscript has a different title so as not to hinder the previous title, the plot remains the same as in the first edition which however differs from certain details, such as the preface by Renato Minore and the aid of the map of the island. Moreover it is also connected to the fantasy saga called: “The King of Light”.

FEDERICO CARRO’S FIRST NOVEL
Il Segreto del Verziere is Federico’s first book that he began towards the last years of high school. The book is inspired by the town of Vernazza, where both the plot and part of the characters derive from a real situation and an imaginary part. The language of the novel is highly sought after and archaic, like the plot which is very mysterious and veiled in many circumstances.
The environments such as some characters and situations were invented by Federico to put the book in a Fantasy key. The author’s style is also presented as a fairy tale mixed in many respects by a classic and always dynamic Fantasy. The book tells the worldly lives of peasants, in particular of two characters who turn out to be the protagonists, namely: “Corcelsio” and “Virtuoso”. They live in a village without a name and never specified in the novel, which turns out to be an island in small respects.
The life of those two characters will intertwine with other people, wrapped together by a situation that began 100 years before the plot, during the monarchical period, mysteriously disappeared out of thin air. The country in question will therefore suffer the adversity of an element that is of an evil nature that upsets the future of the fate of all people within the country.
The work is a fantasy novel written in a fairytale key and presents itself with a aulic style that differs greatly from the common use of words, as it turns out to be a highly sought-after language but less dynamic than the other novels, where the plot takes place here slowly.
For example, novels such as: “The King of Light of the Order of the Dark Gods” plays a lot on the dynamism of events, is rich in plot and details, as well as metaphors, oxymorons and sometimes prevails in an Italian baroque style of the seventeenth century, even if in these last points Le Vestigia dell’Antico Splendore (Luigi Pellegrini edition) also presents these characteristics, this latter novel presents a lot of description and accuracy in the landscape details.
The book is divided into four chapters:
- Capitolo I – Il veliero ed il monile
- Capitolo II – La chiesa e le memorie
- Capitolo III – Il presagio
- Capitolo IV – Il segreto
This first edition comes with many cut parts, recurring parts and other parts completely upside down, moreover there are no artworks as in the following works, where the author in the other editions will put the cut parts and therefore completely unpublished in this edition.
