THE STORY
The first short story collection by the author
The Digital Boy follows Aiden Black, a solitary high-school student in London who discovers that his smartphone can digitize physical reality, allowing him to create and manipulate an entire virtual world of his own.
At first, Aiden uses this power as a means of escape and as a way to subtly protect those who cannot defend themselves. But as he plunges deeper into his artificial universe, the boundary between the real and the digital begins to blur.
His childhood friend, Elara Sterling, struggles to bring him back to reality, while Aiden becomes increasingly consumed by the limitless possibilities of the virtual dimension.
The story explores the psychological and emotional consequences of modern technology, questioning how far a person might go to avoid the hardships of life, and whether such power can ever truly be controlled.
Structure
The Digital Boy was created as the first book of the first part of The Digital Power Saga, a series composed of two works that explore the implications of the relationship between physical reality and the virtual dimension. This story follows a narrative journey in which the chapters guide the reader from the ordinary life of a young teenager to the discovery of a digital world that can reshape reality itself.
The book is divided into six chapters to better explain Aiden Black’s journey, a story full of suspense, psychological depth, and reflections on the human interaction with technology. Each chapter represents a step in the evolution of Aiden’s experience, from the monotony of everyday life to the overwhelming immersion in the digital realm, and ultimately to the consequences of a power that cannot be fully controlled.
The narrative examines not only the fascination and potential of technology, but also the emotional and ethical dilemmas it creates. By exploring the blurred boundary between reality and virtuality, the book poses questions about control, responsibility, and the human desire to escape, making The Digital Boy both an exciting and thought-provoking journey.
